Dr. Diana Allan
Dr. Diana Allan, currently serving as National President of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, has nearly 40 years university-level teaching experience and in 2018, retired after 26 years on the voice faculty of The University of Texas at San Antonio. She is currently Head of the Voice Area for Department of Performing Arts at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.
Her students have been national finalists in the Metropolitan Opera National CouncilAuditions, National OperaAssociation Competition, regional MET Auditions winners, a Presidential Scholar of the Arts, and a National Federation of Music Club regional award winner. Dr. Allan’sstudents have been accepted into prestigious apprentice and summer programs such as Los Angeles Opera, Seattle Opera, Tanglewood Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Opera Works, Opera North, Manhattan Opera Studio, Respiro Opera, and the Crittenden Opera Studio.
Dr. Allanis the author of The Mindful Musician: Physical and Mental Strategies for Optimal Performance (2022) published by Shanghai Conservatory of MusicPress and co-author of The Relaxed Musician: MentalPreparation for ConfidentPerformances(2011). Her website, Peak Performance for Musicians (www.musicpeakperformance.com) has a readership of performers from over 151 countries.
Enjoying her over 36-year membership in the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Dr. Allan’s service to NATS includes servings South Texas Chapter and Texoma Region Auditions Chair, South Texas Chapter President, Texoma Region Governor, NATS National Vice President for Auditions, NATS National President-Elect, and currently, NATS President.
