Mandy Griffin
BA (Hons), MA, PhD
Mandy is a voice teacher and performer based on the Isle of Man. She began singing at a young age and went on to study music and drama, receiving her undergraduate degree from Liverpool University. She undertook further study and began performing professionally whilst living in New Zealand and Australia, before returning to the UK to study for her MA and PhD at Durham University. Whilst there she worked as a teaching assisting within the Music Department, and as a personal tutor at St Chad’s College where she was also the Senior Postgraduate Fellow.
Mandy also discovered her love of teaching voice at this time as she began to tutor singers firstly on a casual basis, but very quickly more formally as demand grew. Since then, Mandy has worked extensively in opera, oratorio, musical theatre and recital on the Isle of Man, throughout the UK, and further afield, whilst building up her teaching practice and extending her knowledge.
A lifelong learner, Mandy has recently has completed Estill Voice Training’s level I and II programme, Janice Chapman’s Advanced Voice Teacher Training course, New York Vocal Coaching’s Teacher Training programme, and is a qualified vocal health first aider (a course undertaken with vocal health UK). She enjoys working with singers of all ages and levels of experience across a broad range of genres. She does have a particular fondness for English Art Song, however, and is delighted to be working with students on this during the vocal intensive.
